How To Improve Your Pet’s Mobility Without Using Drugs
If your pet suffers from stiffness, arthritis or leg weakness that is affecting their ability to exercise, please read on ...........
All of our surgical orthopaedic patients receive a tailor-made programme of hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and acupuncture at our Pearl Pet Rehabilitation Unit. The improvements that we see are remarkable, even returning paralysed animals to walking again in some cases.
We also see a lot of pets with age-related arthritis or weaknesses. The standard first line treatments are anti-inflammatories and glucosamine supplements, which are very effective in most cases. But these patients too can benefit greatly from our experience in complementary therapies and the Pearl Pet Rehabilitation Unit is now open to all of our patients with any mobility problem. The benefits of rehabilitation are scientifically proven, with an expected reduction in stiffness and pain, and an increase in fitness, mobility and enjoyment of exercise in almost every case. This can mean an improved quality of life for your pet and a reduced need for medication.
You and your pet will be given a personal consultation with our physiotherapist and veterinary acupuncturist to assess your pet’s individual needs. A programme of hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and/or acupuncture will then be formed to suit you and your pet’s needs. Hydrotherapy can also be used to improve the fitness and stamina of mobile pets and help with weight reduction programmes. If your pet is in one of these groups you can enrol them straight onto a hydrotherapy course.
